Fight for survival far from over says Moroka Swallows coach

The Dube Birds twice clawed their way back to hold the defending champions 2-2 at Dobsonville Stadium to move nine points away from the relegation play-off spot currently occupied by Richards Bay.

Nyatama was delighted with the point, but insists the job is not done.

”We still need more points going forward, but this point is good for us. We still have tough matches, we still need to play Stellenbosch and SuperSport, those are very difficult games to play,” said Nyatama.

Despite his displeasure with how referee Jelly Chavani officiated the match, Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena was still full of compliments for Nyatama’s side.

The Swallows coach is taking that in his stride.

”It is a very difficult task, you know it’s not easy to be down there. But at least with this point going forward, I  think it will give that gap between us Spurs and Richards Bay.  And also getting those comments from coaches such as Rulani, a very good coach, someone I look up to, it’s a positive thing that I am doing,” added Nyatama.

With six games to go, Nyatama admits he’s already looked at possible permutations to get Swallows out of the danger zone.

”With the block, where we say – we need 10 points per five games, but I am happy with where we are, we have managed to collect 5 points from 3 matches. We still have two from this block,” he concluded.

Swallows don’t play again until 28 April when they travel to Mbombela to face TS Galaxy, and Nyatama wants to see the same fighting spirit his charges put up in getting a crucial point against Sundowns.
