Police are searching for a two-week-old baby boy who was abducted by a female suspect in Davao City three days ago, GMA Regional TV One Mindanao’s Rgil Relator reported Tuesday on 24 Oras.

According to the infant’s father, Marjon Cumablay, his wife and son had just come from the hospital and were at the corner of San Pedro and CM Recto Street on Saturday afternoon, when the suspect approached them and offered to help carry the infant.

“Hindi sila magkakilala. Bale, first time nilang mag-meet,” said San Pedro police station chief Police Major Marvin Hugos.

(They didn’t know each other. It was their first meeting.)

The unidentified suspect volunteered to carry the baby, claiming she felt bad for the child because the weather was too hot.

“Pagtawid nila doon, bumili kasi nga ng mineral [water] ang asawa ko,” recounted Cumablay. “Paglingon niya, nawala na raw ang babae. Kaya yun, sumigaw na siya.”

(When they crossed the street, my wife bought a bottle of water. When she turned, the woman was missing. So, she screamed.)

The mother immediately reported the matter to the police, who are now going through CCTV footage taken around the area where the baby was abducted.

Meanwhile, the father of the baby pleaded for the suspect to bring his son back, as the infant had a medical condition that required him to be breastfed by the mother.

“Baka mayroon kayong nakitang [may kasamang bata] hindi pala niya anak, [o] hindi niya rin inaasahan na anak niya, sana ay isauli na niya. Maawa sana siya, na isauli na niya ang aming anak,” said Cumablay.

(You might see someone with a child that wasn’t theirs or someone who unexpectedly has a child, please give him back. I hope she takes pity and gives us our child back.) — Jiselle Casucian/DVM, GMA Integrated News
