Florida vs. Alabama odds, props, predictions: Gator guards, 3-point defense could cause Tide trouble

The now No. 24 Florida Gators are on the road for a battle with SEC rival and No. 13 Alabama Crimson Tide. The Gators have gone 7-1 in their last eight games and have registered wins against Auburn, at Kentucky, and against LSU in that stretch.

The high-powered Crimson Tide have won back-to-back games scoring more than 100 points after suffering a bad loss on the road at Auburn.

This will be the first of two battles between the two in their remaining six games of the season. Both have likely done enough to earn a tournament bid come March, but the game still presents a great opportunity for each team to test their mettle as tournament play is quickly approaching.

Both teams are in the top six in the nation in points per game, which sets up the contest to be an entertaining high-scoring affair.

The Gators are 12-12-1 against the spread (ATS), while the Crimson Tide are 15-9-1 ATS. The last four games between the two have hit the OVER, which both teams have done at least 14 times this season. That’s one of many lines to consider for tonight’s contest. If you’re looking for betting action, check out the odds and prediction for the matchup below for insight into this exciting SEC conference clash.

Florida betting news: Back court leading the way

The Gators are one of three SEC schools in the top three in scoring. They have five players averaging double digits on the team, but two players, in particular, are who make them the most dangerous – Walter Clayton Jr. and Zyon Pullin.

Clayton Jr. leads the way with 16.4 points per contest followed closely by Pullin, who averages 15.5. However, both have outplayed their season averages of late, which has been instrumental in their current hot streak (7-1).

In their last eight games, Clayton Jr. is putting up almost 18 points per game on 40% from deep and has scored 20 plus points in three consecutive games. Pullin is averaging nearly three more points per contest in that stretch as well on 39% from deep.

The one game neither played well in their recent eight-game stretch resulted in a 67-66 loss to Texas A&M. If they are both on, they are making it difficult for anyone to defeat them including Auburn, who recently defeated the Crimson Tide 99-81 just a couple of weeks ago.

Alabama betting news: Three-point reliability key for Tide

The Crimson Tide are fourth in the country in attempted 3-pointers per game, putting up nearly 31 attempts a contest. They are the epitome of live by the three, die by the three.

In five of their seven losses this season, they have shot 31% or worse from the 3-point line. Their two losses in conference play (Tennessee and Auburn) came against two of the better 3-point defenses in the nation.

Tonight, they are up against another pretty solid 3-point defense in Florida, which is only allowing teams to shoot 33% from deep. That is five percentage points less than Alabama’s season average of nearly 39% from deep.

If the Tide struggle from beyond the arc, that could be enough for the Gators to swing the pendulum in their favor despite being heavy underdogs.

Florida vs. Alabama prediction ATS

The Gators already have one win on the road in the conference play against a high-powered offense. That was at Kentucky in a closely contested game, which they pulled out due to winning the three-point battle. That may not happen against the Crimson Tide, but their star players are at least hot enough to keep the game close.
