Federal budget focused on ‘responsible cost-of-living relief’
Liberal MP Keith Wolahan says next week’s federal budget “will be focused” on “responsible cost-of-living relief”.
Mr Wolahan’s comments come after the Reserve Bank of Australia kept rates on hold at 4.35 per cent.
“No one wants to see interest rates rise further,” Mr Wolahan told Sky News Australia.
“Of course, we want to see inflation moderate and return to that target range, so that interest rate cuts can then occur.
“Next week’s budget … will be focused on the responsible cost-of-living relief, that first short-term goal of working with monetary policy in the Reserve Bank to get inflation down.”
