flooding closes a417 at maisemore and full list of roads closed today - updated

Previous flooding on the A417 near Maisemore

Flooding has forced the closure of the A417 at Maisemore. Heavy rainfall during the recent bad weather has seen a number of flood warnings issued along the Severn from Tewkesbury down past Gloucester.

This stretch of the A417 runs from the A40 Over roundabout just north of Gloucester. The road ultimately links the A40 with the M50 on the Gloucestershire borders with Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

A number of other roads have also been closed due to flooding, Gloucestershire highways team has said. Although flooding is happening, and the Environment Agency has issued red alerts along the banks of the River Severn, it is not to the same extent as it was in January.

No major rainfall is expected in Gloucestershire over the coming days. The Met Office is forecasting some light rain and the occasional burst of heavy rain, but nothing like we saw in January.

Roads closed on Monday

  • Main Road through Down Ampney, closed from its junction with Oak Road to its junction with Poulton Hill.
  • Tirley Street to Pitch Farm, Tirley
  • Ledbury Road, Redmarley (under M50 bridge)
