Chandigarh: Haryana Police has stated that it would now work towards cancelling the visas and passports of farmers who were involved in the violence at the Shambhu Border.

Joginder Sharma, Deputy superintendent of Ambala Police has stated that the police have identified those involved in the violence at the Punjab-Haryana border during the Farmers’ protest.

“We have identified involved in violence coming to Haryana from Punjab in the name of farmers’ protest. We have identified them with CCTV cameras and drone cameras. We will request the Ministry and embassy to cancel their Visas and passports… Their photos, name and address will be given to the passport office. We are working on canceling their passports,” DSP Ambala told news agency ANI.

Ambala DSP added that action has been initiated against these “rowdy” farmers.

“Through CCTV or drone cameras and videography, we have identified such persons engaged in breaking barricades or causing disturbances. We have also taken numerous photographs in which they are seen vandalizing properties and causing disturbances through different means,” the DSP further told reporters.

Farmers involved in the protest have shared that notices have been put up on the houses of over a dozen farmer unions. The farmer unions have also alleged phone tapping and surveillance from the police.

Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha were leading the Delhi Chalo Farmers March. The protest has currently been paused after the death of three farmers during clashes with Haryana Police.

The farmers have been protesting and urging the government to implement their demands, which include a minimum legal guarantee of a minimum support price for corps and a farm loan waiver.
