Fallout 4 Cheats And Console Commands
Fallout 4 Cheats And Console Commands
Shortly after the release of Fallout 4, PC gamers have uncovered a whole treasure trove of ways to cheat and bypass the system. Like in previous Bethesda titles, it’s possible to make the game much easier by toggling console commands, spawning items, or other related activities that players weren’t intended to have.
If you’re looking for a more relaxed way to enjoy Fallout 4 as a beginner, then using cheats might be an option you want to consider. Here’s a guide containing some of the most useful console commands in the game.
Updated May 6, 2024 by Marc Santos: Following the many updates released throughout the game’s lifespan, the console commands needed to cheat in Fallout 4 have remained the same. Those who have been using commands to bypass the game’s systems will find that the same strings of code are still valid today. Interestingly, the majority of these console commands also work in other Creation engine games like Skyrim and Starfield. Gamers who play those games will find that most, if not all, of the cheats listed here also apply in Tamriel and the Settled Systems.
How To Use Cheats In Fallout 4 PC
To begin, press the tilde (~) key. For those who aren’t familiar with it, it is situated directly below the escape button in the top left corner of most keyboards. If that doesn’t work for you, tap the apostrophe key as the command seems to differ between nationalities of your keyboard settings. Once the console is open, players will be able to manipulate the game; increasing their size and speed, spawning the best weapons, or simply completing the game at the touch of a button.
You can find an item or NPC’s ID by clicking on them while the console is active.
As always, make sure to make back-ups of your save files before using any cheats that could potentially ruin your character. The default Fallout 4 save file location is in the My Documents folder.
Apart from being able to use cheats, PC gamers also get access to a wealth of PC-exclusive mods for Fallout 4. While most of these add user-made content to the game, some also exist to tweak difficulty settings or provide improved experiences across the board, including balancing for gunplay and survival mechanics. Such mods are great for players who want a fine-tuned Fallout 4 experience without necessarily relying on cheats.
