The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) re-arrested a person deprived of liberty (PDL) who escaped from the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in 1999.
In a Tuesday statement, the BuCor said its Fugitive Recovery Team captured Pedrino Nuñez in Sitio Pandaitan, Barangay Sta. Lucia, in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro on February 9, Friday.
Nuñez had been sentenced to reclusion perpetua for murder.
He was admitted to the IPPF on October 23, 1997, and escaped on April 14, 1999.
“Tulad ng sinabi ko noon na kapag kayo ay tumakas hahanapin namin kayo kahit saan kayo magtago at ibabalik namin kayo sa corrections facility at ito ang patunay,” said BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr.
(Like I said before, if you escape, we will look for you and return you to the corrections facility. This is the proof.) — DVM, GMA Integrated News
