Fire near Old Klang Road razes 16 houses, kills two
KUALA LUMPUR: Two men were killed in a fire that razed 16 squatter homes near Scott Garden near Old Klang Road.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department’s operation commander Armdan Mahat said the incident occurred at about 4.57am on Sunday (March 3).
“A total of 46 firemen from eight fire stations were dispatched to the scene. When we arrived, 16 squatter homes were on fire. The close proximity of the houses made putting out the fire harder,” he said in a statement.
Armdan added that the fire was under control by 6.05am.
“However, two men in their 60s were killed in the fire. 12 of the houses were burnt fully while four other units were 50% burnt. We are still investigating the cause of the fire,” he said.
