The Colorado Avalanche secured a crucial 5-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday. With it, they tied the series and avoided going down 2-0 before returning to Colorado. That is simply huge.
The Avalanche’s top players played a significant role in their win against the Jets. Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Mikko Rantanen all contributed to the scoresheet and performed excellently.
Their strong play certainly grabbed the attention of Winnipeg Jets center Mark Scheifele, as he had some kind words to say about the Avalanche’s top stars following the game.

Here’s what the Jet star had to say about the Avalanche’s top guns:
“You hear the stories about those guys, how much they take care of their bodies, the amount that they can play is obviously very, very impressive. Nate is one of the very best players in the league for a reason, and so is Cale and Rantanen. You can’t just rely on one guy or one line, you have to rely on everyone. I think we gave them a little bit too much time and space to do what they wanted with the puck.”
There’s no question that Scheifele comprehends just how special of players MacKinnon, Makar, and Rantanen are. It makes sense, as these two clubs are Central Division rivals and play each other often. It is also a no-brainer that they see how good of a player Scheifele is, too.
MacKinnon, Rantanen, and Makar will now look to build on their momentum and help the Avs beat Scheifele and the Jets in Game 3.
