According to reports, Khune is considering a coaching role within Amakhosi’s technical staff, signalling a possible shift away from playing. “With the way things are looking at the moment, it doesn’t seem like he will be given a new contract. That is why he is thinking about taking a new role at the club. Like get into coaching in the development teams,” sources at The Citizen revealed.
Although Khune desires to continue playing, his involvement in the PSL Player Transition Programme in 2022 suggests his preparedness for a coaching role, as reported by Soccer Laduma.
As the 35-year-old goalkeeper edges closer to retirement, he sets his sights on a coaching future. Leveraging his experience to mentor future talents. Furthermore, Khune’s readiness to assume an ambassadorial role at Naturena enhances his connection with the club.
“The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper is being prepared to transition into the role of a goalkeeper coach. He is also earmarked to have an ambassadorial role working with the marketing division at the club,” sources at Soccer Laduma confirmed.
