Queen Letizia of Spain wowed with a surprise new haircut as she stepped out to receive the President of Paraguay and his wife for lunch in Madrid on Wednesday.

The European monarch, 51, joined her husband King Felipe VI to welcome their special guests to Spain – just one day after their busy schedule saw the royal couple fly to England to attend King Constantine of Greece’s memorial service.

Today they were joined by Paraguay President Santiago Peña, 45, and wife Leticia Ocampos, 43.

Letizia had clearly wasted no time since since returning to Spain as she debuted a sleek new cropped hairdo outside the Zarzuela Palace, after booking an appointment with her personal hairdresser Luz Valero.

While at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, Letizia had shown off her classic long wavy tresses, but in her look on Wednesday she’d trimmed her locks to shoulder-length for a very on-trend style.

She looked the epitome of elegance as she donned her statement Bimba y Lola suit in a green-grey shade, complete with a double-breasted blazer and tailored trousers.

The mother-of-two added black heels and simple hoop earrings to accessorise and opted for classic glowing make-up.

Letizia once again joined her husband King Felipe, who looked smart in a navy suit following the visit to England for his uncle’s memorial service.

President Peña and Leticia had touched down in Spain on Sunday before kicking off a busy schedule of engagements, including meeting with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, before they return home on Friday.

Peña, of the Colorado party, took office in August 2023.

Ocampos, 43, married the president when she was 17 years old and the couple now share a daughter.

She looked stunning at the luncheon as she donned a white dress embellished with gold buttons, while her blonde locks were perfectly styled into waves.

It comes after Letizia put on an elegant display as she joined her husband Felipe VI at the memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece at Windsor Castle on Tuesday.

Letizia has cemented her status once again as a very fashionable member of the royal family with a new haircut

The royal looked solemn in a navy knee-length dress, which she paired with matching heels and a shawl.

The mother-of-two arrived arm in arm with her husband King Felipe, whose mother Queen Sofia, 85, is Constantine’s older sister.

Felipe himself also cut a stately figure in a black long coat, also adding a formal grey scarf, as the couple put on a united display.

The royals had travelled over from Spain for the occasion, with Letizia adding a black scarf to cope with the cold British weather.

Once inside St George’s Chapel, the couple sat with King Juan Carlos of Spain and Princess Benedikte of Denmark.

King Felipe last met with the British royals when he attended the Wimbledon men’s final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic – and both Letizia and Felipe were guests at the coronation last year.

The British royals last hosted the Spanish royal family for a state visit in 2017.

The service was attended by several of the ruling houses of Europe. The Prince of Wales was expected to give a reading at his late godfather’s service but pulled out at the last minute due to personal reasons.
