Causes
- The infection is caused by Human parvovirus B19.
It spreads through:
- Respiratory secretions, such as saliva, sputum, or nasal mucus, when an infected person coughs or sneezes
- Handtohand contact
- Blood and blood products
- Can be transmitted from infected pregnant mother to the baby
