Ruth Wilson has been cast in new Apple TV+ thriller Down Cemetery Road alongside Emma Thompson, adapted from a book by Slow Horses author Mick Herron.

Ruth Wilson has been cast in a new Apple TV+ thriller adapted from a book by Slow Horses author Mick Herron.

Appearing alongside Oscar-winner Emma Thompson (who is also on board as an executive producer), Down Cemetery Road sees the pair play two women who team up to search for a missing girl, before finding themselves embroiled in a conspiracy.

“When a house explodes in a quiet Oxford suburb and a girl disappears in the aftermath, neighbour Sarah Tucker (Wilson) becomes obsessed with finding her and enlists the help of private investigator Zoë Boehm (Thompson),” the synopsis reads.

“Zoë and Sarah suddenly find themselves in a complex conspiracy that reveals that people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead.”

The series has been adapted from Herron’s 2003 book of the same name, with Slow Horses series writer Morwenna Banks acting as lead writer and executive producer.

“Down Cemetery Road has all the hallmarks of Mick Herron’s funny and acerbic writing, and I’m delighted we will be bringing it to life for Apple TV+ with such a stellar cast,” said Jay Hunt, creative director, Europe, Apple TV+.

“Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson will make it an unmissable companion piece for Slow Horses on our service.”

Slow Horses, which is based on Herron’s Slough House series of books, released its third season late last year, with the fourth expected later in 2024. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that a fifth season is on the way too.

Down Cemetery Road will stream on Apple TV+. Slow Horses seasons 1-3 are streaming on Apple TV+. Seasons 4 and 5 have been confirmed.
