MANILA, Philippines — House Speaker Martin Romualdez has been declared La Trinidad, Benguet’s “adopted son,” through a resolution adopted by the Sangguniang Bayan or the municipality’s legislative body.

In a statement on Sunday, Romualdez’s office said that La Trinidad officials gave the House leader a copy of Resolution No. 69-2024 during his visit to the province leading the launch of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) program held at the Benguet Sports Complex.

“Resolved as it is hereby done, to declare the House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Gomez Romualdez, as an adopted son of the Municipality of La Trinidad, Benguet Province and bestowed with the name “Batakagan” (Brightest Star),” the two-page resolution reads.

“His noble intention and effort to visit and show support to the constituents of the municipality of La Trinidad deserve recognition worthy as a son,” it added.
