APA YANG TERJADI?

Elkan Baggott harus mengakhiri masa peminjamannya di Bristol Rovers dengan hasil tidak menggembirakan, karena dipaksa menelan kekalahan 2-0 dari tuan rumah Wigan Athletic di Stadion DW, Sabtu (27/4) malam WIB, pada laga pamungkas League One Inggris 2023/24.

Dalam laga terakhirnya bersama Bristol, Baggott dimainkan sejak menit pertama. Manajer Matt Taylor memberikan kepercayaan kepada pemain blasteran tersebut hingga pertandingan berakhir.

Kubu tuan rumah sudah bersorak kegirangan ketika laga berjalan setengah jam setelah Josh Magennis menjebol gawang Jed Ward. Johnny Smith kemudian membawa Wigan unggul saat babak kedua baru berjalan tiga menit sekaligus memastikan kemenangan.

Kekalahan ini membuat ambisi Taylor meraih 60 poin kandas. Bristol menduduki peringkat ke-15 klasemen akhir dengan koleksi nilai 57.

Baggott didatangkan ke Bristol dari klub EFL Championship Ipswich Town pada bursa transfer musim dingin lalu dengan status pinjaman. Selama memperkuat Bristol, Baggott tampil 14 pertandingan, dua di antaranya dari bangku cadangan. Baggott menyumbang masing-masing satu gol dan assist.

Remaja berusia 21 tahun tersebut akan menunggu keputusan dari Ipswich mengenai statusnya di klub ini untuk musim depan, mengingat di putaran pertama, hanya dimainkan di ajang piala. Kontrak Baggott bersama Ipswich masih menyisakan satu tahun lagi. Ipswich kini sedang berjuang memperebutkan tiket promosi otomatis ke Liga Primer. Mereka sekarang berada di peringkat tiga klasemen sementara.
