Eklat hat Folgen für NBA-Star

Die jüngsten Eskapaden von Patrick Beverley bleiben nicht ohne Konsequenzen für den NBA-Star. Die Liga hat den Point Guard der Milwaukee Bucks für vier Spiele gesperrt, nachdem dieser „mehrfach einen Basketball gewaltsam auf Zuschauer geworfen und sich unangemessen gegenüber einem Reporter verhalten“ habe.

Beverley hatte während und nach dem Playoff-Duell mit den Indiana Pacers für Entrüstung gesorgt. Zunächst warf er beim Stand von 94:114 zweieinhalb Minuten vor Schluss von der Bank aus einen Ball in Richtung der Pacers-Fans und traf dabei eine Frau am Kopf.

Als die Anhänger diesen zurückwarfen, schleuderte er den Ball noch einmal in Richtung Fans und musste anschließend von seinen Teamkollegen zurückgehalten werden.

Bucks-Star irritiert nach Playoff-Aus

Wenig später sorgte Beverley gleich für den nächsten Eklat, als er eine Reporterin von der Medienrunde ausschloss, weil sie seinen Podcast nicht abonniert hatte. Als sie sich zunächst weigerte, ihr Mikrofon wegzunehmen, sagte der Bucks-Star: „Nehmen Sie das Mikrofon weg und verlassen Sie die Runde, wenn Sie sich nicht bei meinem Podcast angemeldet haben.“

Im Nachgang äußerte sich Beverley bei X zu den Vorfällen. Nachdem er sein aggressives Verhalten zunächst damit verteidigte, dass er von einem Fan wiederholt provoziert worden sei, zeigte er auch Reue: „Ich muss mich bessern, und ich werde daran arbeiten.“

Für die Bucks ist die Saison indes beendet. In Spiel 6 der ersten Playoff-Runde bei den Indiana Pacers, wo sich Beverley seine Eskapaden erlaubte, setzte es eine 98:120-Niederlage, damit zugleich das 2:4 und Ende in der Serie im Modus Best-of-Seven.
