Eight vehicles involved in second pile-up on Pasir Gudang Highway in three days

JOHOR BARU: Just three days after a trailer rammed into 11 vehicles along the Pasir Gudang Highway, another pile-up has occurred there involving eight vehicles.

According to the Johor Fire and Rescue Department, the accident near the turnoff to Taman Rinting along the highway was reported at 11.43am on Thursday (March 28).

“The pile-up involved a tanker lorry, two four-wheel drive vehicles, a one-tonne lorry, a multi-purpose vehicle and three cars heading towards Pasir Gudang.

“When our team arrived at the scene, the victims managed to leave their respective vehicles safely,” it said in a statement.

The department added that the firemen inspected the area to make sure it was safe before ending the operation. However, no injuries were mentioned in the statement.

Multiple videos and photos of the pile-up were posted on social media, with reports of the ensuing traffic congestion along the highway.

On Monday (March 25) afternoon, three motorists were injured when a trailer lorry rammed into 11 other vehicles along the highway.

Police believe the accident occurred when a car coming from Perling tried to enter the right lane from the middle lane, causing the trailer driver to lose control of the heavy vehicle while trying to avoid it.

The trailer then swerved into the opposite lane and rammed into eight cars and lorries that were in slow-moving traffic at KM11.1 near Taman Daya here.
