Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources shared its goal to construct two solar power stations valued at EGP1 billion ($20.60 million), funded by the European Union (EU). These projects show Egypt’s big move toward using more renewable energy like solar power. It also shows that Egypt wants to be a leader in renewable energy and help the environment while meeting its own energy needs.
Enppi and Petrojet, two engineering and construction companies within the petroleum industry, have been entrusted with the implementation of these projects, expected to be completed within 11 months.
The first project, located at Egypt’s Assiut Oil Refining Company, carries a price tag of EGP550 million and aims to produce 10 megawatts of electricity. Meanwhile, the General Petroleum Company is leading the second project, aiming to generate 6.5 megawatts with an investment of LE 500 million.
These solar initiatives mark a significant step forward in Egypt’s quest for sustainable energy. By diversifying its energy sources and reducing carbon emissions, Egypt is forging a path towards a cleaner and more environmentally friendly future.
