Builder of superb portable power stations, EcoFlow is launching a brand-new battery solution in South Africa in the build-up to winter. Known as the River 2 Pro, it is now available on their website and complements the existing River range perfectly.

As you may have seen, The South African has already reviewed the highly capable River 2 Max. So, what’s new on the EcoFlow River 2 Pro? Well, as the name suggests, Pro places it atop the River 2 range above the Max. Therefore, it boasts a capacity of 768 Wh (and 800 Wh output), versus the River 2 Max’s 500 Wh.
The Max recharges fully in roughly 90 min, while the latest Pro can be fully recharged in just 70 min (via AC charging). That is crazy-fast. The firm says this is approximately 70% faster than the industry average. That means even if you run the station down between load-shedding slots, you won’t spend all your up-time recharging it.
LAST SIX-TIMES LONGER

In keeping with an EcoFlow’s longevity, the company says the River 2 Pro is built to withstand 3 000 power cycles. That is six-times more than the industry average of just 500 cycles. It’s a highly reassuring feeling, as we’ve experienced with the River 2 Max, seeing it recharge and discharge and not worry about the battery’s durability.
In the press information, EcoFlow also says the River 2 Pro can automatically switch to battery-powered supply mode within just 30 milliseconds. That means an uninterrupted power supply in case of a sudden, emergency blackout. Price wise, the EcoFlow River 2 Pro, coming in at the top of the River range, retails at a launch-discounted R11 999. That’s a saving of R7 500. Additionally, it comes with an industry-leading 5-year warranty. And if you refer a friend to the brand you get a R1 000 discount, too.
