Stellenbosch FC stretched an unbeaten run in all competitions to 22 matches after drawing 1-1 at Sekhukhune United on Wednesday in the DStv Premiership.
Ivorian Anicet Oura put second-placed Stellenbosch FC ahead on 41 minutes in Polokwane before Nigerian Chibuike Ohizu levelled after 86 minutes for the club two places lower in the table.
Both goals came from crosses with Oura volleying past goalkeeper Badra Sangare, who was in the 2024 Ivory Coast Africa Cup of Nations-winning squad, while Ohizu headed the late equaliser.
Since losing a league match against leaders Mamelodi Sundowns last September, Stellenbosch FC have won 14 matches and drawn eight in the DStv Premiership, Nedbank Cup and Telkom Knockout.
Race for CAF Champions League spot
The Winelands side are three points ahead of Orlando Pirates in the race for second place and a CAF Champions League slot.
Mamelodi Sundowns are set for a seventh straight DStv Premiership title as they lead Stellenbosch by 13 points with two games in hand and need a maximum of nine points from nine matches to finish first.
Meanwhile, SuperSport United overcame the sending-off of goalkeeper Ricardo Goss after 29 minutes to draw 1-1 with visiting Polokwane City in Pretoria and climb one place to fifth.
Bottom-half club Polokwane went ahead on 55 minutes when a fortunate ricochet enabled Orwin Appollis to score from close range.
A couple of SuperSport United substitutes combined to equalise after 66 minutes with Nigerian Etiosa Ighodaro nodding an Aphiwe Baliti cross into the net.
