Magnolia survives Rain or Shine to extend win streak to four

MAGNOLIA survived Rain or Shine, 108-102, on Saturday at the Tiaong Convention Center in Quezon to stretch its winning streak to four in the PBA 48th Season Philippine Cup.

Ian Sangalang and Mark Barroca buried timely shots for the Hotshots to end the five-game winning streak of the Elasto Painters, improve their record to 5-2, and take second place in the team standings.

Magnolia led by as many as 15 points but had to overcome the late charge of Rain or Shine in the end game.

The Elasto Painters evened their record to 5-5 in a game that saw them make just 24 of their 41 free throw attempts.

An 11-0 run that also had Paul Lee nailing his 1,000th three-pointer of his career upped Magnolia’s lead to 96-84, forcing Rain or Shine to play catch-up the rest of the way.

Sangalang finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds, while Barroca had 18 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists for the Hotshots.
