Doctor Khumalo: Hugo Broos found a diamond in Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns target!

Bafana Bafana will return to South Africa, after the completion of their FIFA Series in Algeria.

Although Bafana did not win any of their games, they still protected their unbeaten recent record in regulation time.

In the first game, Bafana played to a 1-1 draw with Andorra. On one side, that was an embarrassing result against the Europeans who had not won in 15 games. On the other side, coach Hugo Broos was happy because he got see his wider squad. It would’ve been a trial for the likes of AmaZulu star Mlondi Mbanjwa and Sekhukhune United forward Elias Mokwana.

Mokwana would take his chance by taking his goal scoring opportunity in the game against Andorra. The winger scored Bafana’s equaliser in the fixture, but besides the goal, he was always a bright spark. That earned him another cap in the subsequent game against Algeria, with a more full strength side. He, again came on and made an immediate impact, playing a huge part in the team’s third goal.

It was initially thought to have been Mokwana’s goal, but it was eventually given to Iqraam Rayners. The shot took a slight deflection off of the Stellenbosch FC striker and changed direction. But even though the goal was taken away from the speedster, his endeavour and performance could not be discredited. One of the people he impressed was Bafana legend Doctor Khumalo who was full of praise for him.

Mokwana a diamond for Bafana

“Hugo should be proud of himself because he found a diamond now in Mokwana. Two games in a row, the boys is showing character, he’s positive, he’s going forward. There is nothing I like more than a wing player who can challenge defenders directly…. because that is the reason why we have wing players in order for them to isolate and this is exactly what we saw Mokwana do. I would’ve loved to see Mbanjwa but unfortunately he didn’t play him. Based on the two games, I think in Mokwana we found a diamond for Bafana Bafana.” Said Khumalo on SABC3 as per iDiski Times.

With the Afcon qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe in June, Mokwana has a good chance of making the Bafana squad.
