Mumbai To Face Scorching Heatwave This Week Despite Cloudy Skies; Check 7 Day Forecast

Mumbai Weather: Mumbai, known for its normal summer temperatures, is preparing for a scorching heatwave in the upcoming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the maximum temperature in the financial capital will reach a upto 36 degrees Celsius over the next week, despite partly cloudy skies. Last week, the weather department issued a yellow alert for ‘severe’ heatwave conditions in Maharashtra, as the day temperatures skyrocketed to 40-42 degrees Celsius in the Marathawada and Vidarbha regions.

While Mumbaikars eagerly await relief from the heat, there is disappointment as the IMD forecast does not predict any rainfall for the city. Rainfall could provide some respite, but, it seems to be absent from the immediate forecast.

Mumbai Weather: IMD Forecast

According to the IMD’s weather forecast for the Mumbai-Santacruz region, the maximum temperature will range between 32 and 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will hover around 24 to 26 degrees Celsius from April 11 to 17, 2024.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru, the city known for its pleasant climate, finds itself in the midst of a severe water crisis worsened by rising temperatures. The city is experiencing higher temperatures compared to both Delhi and Mumbai, contrary to its traditional moderate climate. The rising temperatures in Bengaluru have shattered previous records, with the mercury nearing the April record of 39.2 degrees Celsius set back in 2016.

One user on a popular platform raised the question, “How is Bangalore hotter than Mumbai and Delhi?” The answer lies in the fact that Delhi experiences a transition from winters to summers, while Bengaluru, which never sees harsh winters, has an early transition to summers. The user further explained that in May, Bengaluru will enjoy mild showers, while Delhi will be sweltering hot.
