Disney Cruise Line Unveils New Entertainment Details, Map Image for Private Island Lookout Cay
Lighthouse Point, Bahamas
Disney Cruise Line has just revealed some exciting new updates about Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, the expansion project underway on its private island of Eleuthera in The Bahamas, which is scheduled to open to guests in June.
Today, the cruise line actually released the first map of the new beachfront area, which details where all of Lookout Cay’s amenities, attractions, food and beverage, and merchandise venues will be located.
A tram will transport guests from the docks to the expanded strip along the paradisical shoreline. Upon arriving at the complex, guests will encounter the Goombay Cultural Center, then have a chance to grab their first souvenir at the First & Last Chance Stand or refresh with a tropical iced coffee at Mangroves & Go.
Those who are looking for an active island adventure can rent bicycles at Rocky Point and take them out on the Nature Trail to view Eleuthera’s lush vegetation and possibly even some wildlife along the way. Or, rent a snorkel at Flippers & Fins and head out into the invigorating tropical waters.
For kids and parents looking for a place to have fun together while cooling off, Rush Out, Gush Out and the family beach are the spots for aquatic playtime. Looking to just relax and enjoy the view while wading out when it suits you? Both Serenity Bay and Mabrika Cove boast coveted cabanas for rental.
When tummies start rumbling, guests can head over to True-True BBQ, True-True BBQ Too or Serenity Bay BBQ. And, when they’ve worked up a thirst, several bars and the Sandsational Smoothie stand will be there to help slake it.
There’s much more to explore, and it will only be a matter of weeks before it’s all revealed to the world.
Lookout Cay Construction Updates
Disney Cruise Line also detailed some of the latest construction updates from the work that’s still underway at Lookout Cay, featuring Bahamian-inspired art and architecture across the private destination.
The new Serenity Bay Cabanas have been built with vibrantly colored and patterned rooftops to match the Mabrika Cove Cabanas, which sit at the arrival point of the beach resort. Just steps away from Serenity Bay BBQ and Blue Hole Bar, these cabanas will be available for adults only to rent to relax and soak in the stunning scenery.
Artworks crafted by talented, local artists are also taking shape across Lookout Cay’s many spaces, including intricate wood carvings inspired by artist Andret John and colorful murals by painter Dorman Stubbs.
Designed to look like oversized seashells, the dining pavilions that make up True-True Too BBQ are beautiful examples of the thoughtful architectural elements that can be found throughout the destination.
On-Island Entertainment
The cruise line also shared details of the types of entertainment guests can expect to encounter at the private island retreat. A local Junkanoo Group will sweep guests up in ‘RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration’ at Lookout Cay, introducing them to the uniquely Bahamian festival of Junknoo with colorful parades of music and dance. Of course, Mickey Mouse and friends will join in the fun, dressed in their own vibrant costumes to parade with performers to the Goombay Cultural Center.
Then there’s the Disney Fun in the Sun Beach Bash at the Play-Play Pavilion, a beach party that brimming with games guests can play with their Disney friends. Find out how low you can go during Goofy’s Good Day Limbo, challenge your hand-eye coordination at Pluto’s Pineapple Ring Toss or cool off with a splash at Chip-n-Dale’s Water Brigade—all set to the sounds of brand-new Bahamian renditions of classic Disney tunes.
