SEN. Bong Go rallied support for the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) to bolster its representation in various levels of government.

The senator reaffirmed his commitment to public service during the PDP’s 42nd-anniversary celebration in Cebu City last April 19.

Go, PDP’s national auditor, recalled his efforts with former president Rodrigo Duterte to improve public service. He cited the “critical role of teamwork and public trust in the former administration’s success.”

He said that under the leadership of Duterte, the party chairman, the PDP approved several resolutions such as its new constitution, an amendment to its name, now known as Partido Demokratiko Pilipino, as well as the endorsements of its Senate candidates for the 2025 midterm elections.

The PDP national council approved the reelection bids of Go and fellow Sens. Ronald dela Rosa and Francis Tolentino in the 2025 midterm polls.

Go raised the need to “prioritize initiatives that directly benefit the poor and the underprivileged.” He cited the party’s role in promoting change and progress and reiterated its core values: compassion, cooperation and care for fellow Filipinos.

The PDP “is not only a political party but a convergence of like-minded individuals with the heart and compassion to serve the country and its people,” Go said in Filipino.

Aside from Duterte, also present during the gathering were Al Cusi, PDP vice chairman; Jose “Pepito” Alvarez, president; Sen. Robinhood Padilla, executive vice president; Tolentino, vice president for Luzon; de la Rosa, vice president for Mindanao; and Michael Rama, vice president for the Visayas who hosted the event as mayor of Cebu City.
