Detroit Lions trade up, select Terrion Arnold in 2024 NFL Draft
The Detroit Lions have made a trade up in the 2024 NFL Draft, and with their acquired pick they have taken Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold.
Detroit traded up with the Dallas Cowboys, taking over the No. 24 pick. The Lions gave up pick Nos. 29 (first round) and 73 (third round) in the deal that lands them a major impact player on the defensive side of the ball. The Cowboys are also sending a 2025 seventh to Detroit in the deal.
Arnold was considered one of the top-two cornerbacks in this year’s class, along with Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, who went to the Philadelphia Eagles at pick No. 22.
He immediately fills a big need for the Lions, who a question mark opposite No. 1 cornerback Carlton Davis. Amik Robertson and Emmanuel Moseley were set to battle it out for the starting job, but Robertson doesn’t have much starting experience and Moseley has suffered a torn ACL in each knee in back-to-back years.
The expectation is that Arnold will come in and earn a starting job right away, which is a perfect fit for a Lions team that has Super Bowl aspirations in 2024.
