Delhi Sizzles At 42 Degrees On Season's Hottest Day; Heatwave Sweeps 5 Other States

Delhi experienced its hottest day of the season on Tuesday clocking a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This was the maximum temperature recorded in the national capital this summer so far, surpassing the previous hottest day recorded was May 5, when the maximum temperature settled at 41.1 degrees Celsius.
As per the weatherman, the Najafgarh area of Delhi recorded the maximum temperature of 43.9 degrees Celsius, Pusa recorded 42.3 degrees Celsius, Narela recorded 43.1 degrees Celsius, and Ayanagar recorded 41.4 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, in the national capital region (NCR), the maximum temperature in Noida was recorded at 40.8 degrees Celsius, Gurgaon 41.8 degrees Celsius and Ghaziabad 39.8 degrees Celsius.
While the national capital endured the brunt of the heat, several other states across India are facing similar sweltering conditions. As per IMD, heatwave conditions prevailed in isolated pockets over Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, and Kerala on Tuesday.
“Heatwave conditions will prevail in interior Karnataka till Wednesday; over east Rajasthan till Thursday and over west Rajasthan and west Madhya
Pradesh from Wednesday till Friday,” the weather agency said.
Furthermore, IMD said hot and humid weather is very likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Gujarat during the next five days, and in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala till tomorrow.
Weather Predictions For the Next Three Days
May 8: As per IMD, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala and, Telangana.
Dust storms and thunderstorms with gusty winds are also very likely in isolated pockets over East Uttar Pradesh.
“Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and South Interior Karnataka,” IMD said.
Further, hot and humid weather is very likely to prevail over the Gujarat region, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala.
Heatwave conditions are also very likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh and North Interior Karnataka.
May 9: IMD said thunderstorms are very likely at isolated places over Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh.
Dust storms and thunderstorms with gusty winds are also very likely in isolated pockets over East Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rainfall is also very likely at isolated places over Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry.
As per the weatherman, hot and humid weather will prevail over the Gujarat region. “Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh,” it added.
May 10: IMD said thunderstorms are very likely at isolated places over West Bengal, Sikkim, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.
Dust storms and thunderstorms are likely in isolated pockets over Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.
Heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather is likely to prevail over the Gujarat region. Heatwave conditions are also likely to prevail in isolated pockets over West Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh.
