Frank Warren picks ideal world champion opponent for Hamzah Sheeraz
Frank Warren is aiming to make a title fight for British middleweight Hamzah Sheeraz.
The 24-year-old middleweight blasted his way past Liam Williams on Saturday night in a hugely impressive performance.
The power of his jab was remarkable and his victory left observers wondering what next for the fighter.
His promoter Warren believes that he will soon be ready for a world title fight, and writing in BoxingScene.com , he noted that Janibek Alimkhanuly could be the right opponent.
Discussing the unified champion from Kazakhstan he said: “So where do we go from here? Well, Hamzah will now get ready for Ramadan, which gives us a window to plot his next move and, as I commented on Saturday, he is off the leash now.
“There are some good options out there, but some of those might not be so keen now. Personally, I wouldn’t have any hesitation over matching Hamzah with Janibek Alimkhanuly, the Kazakh southpaw, who holds two world title belts. He says nobody wants to fight him, so we have now got someone for him, if he is up for it.”
