It’s safe to say that the landmark 20th season of Deadliest Catch is all about time — or a lack thereof.
In the season 20 trailer, which EW can exclusively reveal below, we see fan-favorite captains Sig Hansen, Keith Colburn, Wild Bill Wichrowski and more head to sea to catch Red King Crab. Not only are the King Crab fisheries finally open after a three-year closure, but for the first time in more than 20 years, the captains are competing in a derby-style race. “This is more than just fishing to make money,” Hansen explains in the first footage of the upcoming season. “It’s a race against time.”
Rivalry, competition, and, of course, deadly weather conditions reach incredible heights in the upcoming episodes. “It’s gonna be dog-eat-dog,” Colburn warns in the trailer.
The season will see Jake Anderson return to Hansen’s Northwestern, Sophia “Bob” Nielsen take the helm of the F/V Seabrooke, and Johnathan Hillstrand come out of retirement in an attempt to reach a $1 million quota. Plus, Jacob Hutchins fights for the relief captain spot on Rick Shelford’s F/V Aleutian Lady, while Steve Harley Davidson and Jack Bunnell upgrade to the 126-foot F/V Pacific Mariner.
Check out the season 20 captains below — oh, and before we forget, EW can exclusively reveal that Deadliest Catch season 20 will premiere Tuesday, June 11, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Discovery Channel, and will be then be available to stream on Max.
