Day One Xbox Game Pass Game Skipping Consoles at Launch
- Ara: History Untold will be a day one Xbox Game Pass title, but will only launch on PC initially in fall 2024.
- The game features 45 leaders and offers a fresh take on historical strategy games.
- While some may be disappointed it won’t be on consoles at launch, developer Oxide Games plans to reveal console release plans later.
Xbox Game Pass day one release, Ara: History Untold, will be skipping consoles at launch, as it’s currently set to release exclusively on PC at first. When it comes to day one releases on Xbox Game Pass, games are usually scheduled to launch on both PC and consoles, but Ara: History Untold is focusing first on the former.
Ara: History Untold is an exciting new title being added to the turn-based strategy genre. As a competitor to the popular Civilization franchise, Ara: History Untold boasts a fresh take on historical strategy games. Ara’s new approach to leaders is an interesting spin that gives players specific advantages based on the characters they choose, and with the game’s set release of fall 2024, it could be a strong contender against the likes of Civilization. An exciting aspect about Ara: History Untold is that it’s set to be a day one Xbox Game Pass title, but gamers looking forward to playing on consoles will have to wait a little longer.

Close
Although it may be disappointing for some gamers that the game won’t be available on Xbox consoles at launch, developer Oxide Games has at least confirmed that it will reveal its console plans for Ara: History Untold sometime after its PC launch. A Steam community post from Oxide Games revealed the reasoning behind this launch strategy, stating, “Oxide Games is laser-focused on delivering a top-notch PC-first experience, with Ara slated for Windows, Steam, and PC Gamepass later this year.”
With these types of strategy games generally being more comfortable to play on PC, there hasn’t been any word from Oxide Games about how the developer intends to optimize the game for consoles, but that news may be revealed alongside the studio’s Xbox plans.
Oxide Games is laser-focused on delivering a top-notch PC-first experience, with Ara slated for Windows, Steam, and PC Gamepass later this year.
Once the game launches in the fall, Ara: History Untold will showcase what sets it apart from some serious competition. Both the Civilization and Age of Empires franchises have been the main players in the strategy genre, and it will be exciting to see how Ara: History Untold holds up against its competition. Ara: History Untold could prove to be an incredibly fun and exciting new addition to the strategy genre, but hopefully, fans of Xbox consoles won’t have to wait too long to play it.
