Danika Mason was spotted having an animated phone call in the hours after her relationship with footy star Liam Knight was exposed – as her ex shares that he has been on a ‘wild rollercoaster ride’ with a notorious ‘fake socialite’.

Daily Mail Australia revealed on Thursday that the Channel Nine sports presenter, 33, was seen cuddling up to the Bulldogs prop, 29, at The Butler restaurant in Sydney’s exclusive Potts Point on Saturday night.

The revelations came just months after she sensationally called off her wedding to personal trainer Todd Liubinskas.

Mason, who in addition to presenting Wide World of Sports is a sideline reporter for Nine’s NRL coverage, was spotted on Thursday morning leaving her South Maroubra home to walk her brown Labrador Charlie – hours after news of her new relationship broke.

She used to share both the dog and the house with her ex but any lingering sadness from her cancelled wedding appeared far from her mind.

Dressed in a baggy t-shirt from men’s fashion label Zanerobe and wearing dark sunglasses with her hair flowing down below her shoulders, Mason was seen smiling and laughing as she chatted to a friend on the phone.

The previous afternoon, her new beau, Knight, was seen leaving her home to take Charlie for a walk.

Mr Liubinskas did not respond to a request for comment.

But on Thursday afternoon he re-posted an Instagram story from one of his personal training clients, notorious ‘fake influencer’ Suzan Mutesi.

The Ugandan-Australian influencer is infamous for crashing the Logies and has been accused of everything from buying Instagram followers to Photoshopping herself into private jets.

Mutesi shared a picture of herself in a bikini next to four others, including a topless Mr Liubinskas, after a 5am workout on Bondi Beach, claiming that the session was so hard it left her questioning her life choices.

‘But hey thanks to you (Mr Liubinskas), I can proudly say that time spent with you is always a wild rollercoaster ride,’ Ms Mutesi gushed.

Mr Liubinskas’ most recent posts have almost exclusively related to time spent exercising or in the gym.

Meanwhile, his ex appears to have moved on after this publication revealed she looked smitten with Knight on Saturday, practically sitting on his lap at one stage while gazing wistfully into his eyes.

They began the evening sitting opposite one another, before Knight moved over to Mason’s side of the table and they cuddled up in full view of onlookers.

‘Her demeanour was that of a relaxed woman enjoying a pre-season fling with a younger specimen; his was that of a deer in headlights,’ one onlooker said.

In further evidence the two are an item, Mason and Knight follow each other on Instagram, and she has also liked the the 1.94m footballer’s most recent post.

On Wednesday afternoon, Knight was seen leaving Mason’s South Maroubra home, which she used to share with Mr Liubinskas, to take the former couple’s dog Charlie for a walk

Mason was set to marry Liubinskas, 40, on October 27 last year.

But she cancelled the wedding just weeks before the ceremony was due to be held at Greystone Estate in the NSW Hunter Valley.

The exact reason for the couple’s split is unclear and has become a subject of great speculation among footy and media insiders.

It is unknown how long Mason, who hosts the Sunday Footy Show, has been romantically involved with Knight.

Knight, who hosts a podcast called Stuk in the Middle with fellow NRL star Toby Rudolf, signed for the Bulldogs last year.

He previously played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Manly Warringah Sea Eagles and the Canberra Raiders in the NRL.

Mr Knight, who describes himself as a ‘business investor’, is a recovering alcoholic and revealed last year he was attending AA meetings twice a week.

He turned to prescription drugs and alcohol after a season-ending injury in 2022, and eventually sought help from Rabbitohs coach Jason Demetriou.

Along with South Sydney chief executive Blake Solly, Demetriou arranged for Knight to be admitted to a rehab centre for alcohol, drug and gambling addictions.

Knight spent 28 days at Foundation House in Lilyfield, in Sydney’s western suburbs, and, as of last year, was still returning to attend sessions twice a week.

‘I still go to AA meetings twice a week,’ he previously told The Daily Telegraph.

‘I get up the front and say, “I’m Liam, I’m an alcoholic.” People can judge me any way they want. It doesn’t faze me.’

Knight said he wasn’t worried about being recognised at the facility, nor did he have any qualms about disclosing the extent of his addiction issues.

His main concern was sharing his story in the hope it may help those suffering with mental health and reassure them ‘help is out there’ for those who need it.

Mason sensationally called off her wedding to Liubinskas in late September, just three weeks out from the big day.

The sideline reporter, who most recently covered the Australian Open, was said to be ‘beyond devastated’ and ‘completely heartbroken’ by the decision.

Liubinskas, who reportedly sought refuge at his parents’ home in Sydney’s inner-west in the wake of the break-up, had only just celebrated his 40th birthday a week before the split.

‘Forty feels good!’ he captioned an Instagram post of his birthday celebrations.

‘Thanks for the love! An epic surprise,’ he added, before tagging Mason.

The post remains on his Instagram account.

Mason and Liubinskas were last seen together arm-in-arm less than two weeks before the wedding was called off at an event to launch the new BYD electric car and showroom in Alexandria, in Sydney’s inner-south.

After their split, another ex-girlfriend of Liubinskas’ – who had been in a relationship with him for seven years before he started dating Mason – offered Mason a message of support.

‘I can only hope that Danika hasn’t been blindsided like I was or going through something similar,’ the ex, who declined to be named, told Daily Mail Australia.

‘My heart goes out to her if she was.’

This publication previously revealed Liubinskas had asked Mason to give back her diamond engagement ring through a third party because it was a family heirloom.

Mason went on a girls’ holiday to Bali last year, while Mr Liubinskas was recently seen promoting nutrition bars at service stations.
