Congress media coordinator Radhika Khera resigns from party, invokes Ram temple
Congress national media coordinator Radhika Khera resigned from the party on Sunday alleging that she faced opposition for visiting the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and that she wasn’t given justice by the party leadership over an incident that happened at the party’s Chhattisgarh office.
A senior Congress leader said she had an “argument” with the party’s Chhattisgarh communication department in-charge, Sushil Anand Shukla, on April 30 — a day before Pawan Khera visited the state.
In her resignation addressed to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Khera wrote, “It has been established since early times that those who support religion are opposed. For every Hindu, the birthplace of Lord Ram is very important. While praying there is something every Hindu considers a success, some people are opposed to it.”
She said she worked for 22 years for the Congress and still faced opposition because she “couldn’t stop herself from visiting the Ram Temple” in Ayodhya. “The opposition for this pious act reached a level that I couldn’t get justice for what happened to me in Chhattisgarh,” she wrote.
Chhattisgarh Congress Committee chief Deepak Baij said Radhika Khera had mixed a party matter and religion for no reason. “Shukla and Radhika have had issues for seven years. On the evening of April 30, there was an argument between the two in the presence of others. Before the party could take action, she resigned. It was a clash of ego, and nothing else.”
