The Washington Commanders are widely expected to select a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, and it sounds like they are meeting with one of the players they could select with that pick this week.

According to a report from NFL insider Albert Breer of SI.com, the Washington Commanders decided to meet with North Carolina Tar Heels star quarterback Drake Maye ahead of his Pro Day workout.

“Commanders coach Dan Quinn, GM Adam Peters and OC Kliff Kingsbury will meet with North Carolina QB Drake Maye tomorrow morning, before Maye goes out and throws for scouts at his Pro Day, per sources. Washington, like a lot of other teams, is coming in from Baton Rouge,” Breer said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

As Breer alluded, the Commanders were also in attendance to watch the Pro Day workout and meet with LSU Tigers star quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels.

With the Chicago Bears set to select Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick, the Commanders will likely have to decide between Maye, Daniels, and Michigan Wolverines star quarterback J.J. McCarthy with the No. 2 pick.
