Los documentales están hechos para ampliar nuestra mirada, porque son historias reales y eso nos moviliza. El Servicio Jesuita a Migrantes, en medio de una campaña de sensibilización, nos propuso crear una pieza audiovisual que permitiera profundizar el tema de la migración desde la perspectiva de quienes están más invisibilizados: niñas, niños y adolescentes. Visitamos establecimientos de las comunas de Santiago Centro y Estación Central, que poseen las mayores matrículas de alumnos extranjeros en la capital. Gracias a la directiva y a un cuerpo docente, pudimos acercarnos a quienes son hoy los y las protagonistas de “Travesías”.

Al conocerlos, nos sorprendió su madurez, la forma de elaborar ideas respecto de lo que habían pasado para llegar a Chile y la manera de enfrentar enormes dificultades. Por medio de entrevistas e interacciones, pudimos compartir sus vivencias. Migrar, para ellos, no fue una elección, sino una necesidad vital. Significó también un duelo, al dejar cosas tan queridas, como sus hogares y familias de un día para otro.

En sus relatos enfrentan la soledad, el bullying, el aislamiento o la incertidumbre. Pero lo que prima y da fortaleza a sus miradas es la capacidad de sobreponerse, algo tan humano que nos obliga a reflexionar sobre cómo abordamos nuestros propios desafíos, la importancia de la inclusión y del diálogo en los espacios que compartimos.

También se aborda de manera tácita la importancia de los establecimientos educacionales, hoy tan desbordados, donde los docentes enfrentan con mucha vocación y esfuerzo el desafío de un sistema inclusivo y humano. Es necesario fortalecerlos. Esta generación es también nuestro futuro Chile. En “Travesías” aparecen muchas claves de cómo enfrentarnos al tema como sociedad, a escala global, en momentos donde es tan necesario sacar la voz por quienes están padeciendo inimaginables escalas de violencia. Sus relatos son todo menos “infantiles”. Es necesario escucharlos.
