Central Luzon State University (CLSU) has launched the new building and a bus as the newest addition to the university facilities and vehicles during its 117th founding anniversary on April 11, 2024.

According to the CLSU Strategic Communication Office (SCO), these were the College of Science (COS) building, the International Studio (IS) under the International Affairs Office (IAO) and the Rosa Light Bus.

Amounting to P13 million, the COS building houses the college dean’s office, a conference room, and a smart classroom, including the equipment which was supported and partly funded by the local government unit (LGU) of Science City of Muñoz headed by Mayor Baby Armi Alvarez and Vice Mayor Nestor Alvarez.

Alvarez also also served as dean of then College of Arts and Sciences.

The SCO said the IS which was built to address the need for a state-of-the-art facility for online learning and multimedia production was also launched making the International Affairs Office at par with its foreign partner institutions.

It also noted that Senator Sonny Angara also gave funding support to IS which will provide an enabling environment for local and foreign students under the student mobility endeavors of the university.

The 29-seater Rosa Light Bus joined the fleet of CLSU vehicles increasing the capacity of the university to provide transportation services to students, faculty and staff who represent the university outside the campus and in various competitions.

During the event, CLSU President Evaristo Abella thanked everyone who contributed to the establishment of the two buildings, specifically those who provided funding support.

Abella also thanked the previous administration of former university president Edgar Orden, currently the vice president for research and extension, and Renato Reyes, former vice president for academic affairs, who started the conceptualization and realization of these projects during their term.

Representing the vice mayor, Councilor Vincent Alvarez gave a response lauding the recent infrastructure developments in the university compared to the time when he was still a student.

“The strong collaboration between the LGU and CLSU should be maintained to continuously benefit the whole Science City community,” he said.

The blessing and thanksgiving ceremony was led by Rev. Father Rufo Ramil Cruz, also the university chaplain, who led the blessing and thanksgiving ceremony of the new facilities and vehicle with university officials, faculty, staff and LGU officials as witnesses.
