PETALING JAYA: A video being shared of Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Kuala Kubu Baharu candidate Pang Sock Tao criticising Barisan Nasional (BN) is an old clip taken during the 15th general election (GE15) campaign, says Teo Nie Ching.

Teo, DAP’s publicity secretary, said the video was from November 2022, taken during a GE15 campaign in Kulai, Johor.

“It’s an old video from 2022. The speech was made in Kulai when she was campaigning for Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for the Kulai (parliamentary seat),” she told reporters in a media WhatsApp group.

Teo, the deputy communications minister, is also the MP for Kulai.

In a later Facebook post, Teo said there were many other videos of DAP leaders slamming BN and MCA, as well as vice versa, during the GE15 campaign.

“But after the unity government was formed, as mature leaders, we need to move forward and continue working to do our best to ensure the success of the unity government,” she said.

The video of Pang, who is press secretary to housing and local government minister Nga Kor Ming, was originally posted on Nov 13, 2022 on TikTok account jaguh1119.

In the video, she said Malaysians had “lost hope in Malaysia” after more than 60 years of BN rule.

She also defended Nga for saying that a PH federal government would improve Malaysia’s economic conditions to the point where Singaporeans would travel to the country for employment rather than the other way around.

Pang said “BN cannot” do this, but that PH would be able to accomplish it if it was given five to 10 years in Putrajaya.

The video recently resurfaced and was also shared by MCA Youth chief Ling Tiang Soon.

Teo told Ling to “be more mature” since the video was not new, adding that it was being intentionally spread after the announcement of Pang as PH’s candidate for the May 11 by-election.
