Jim Chalmers ‘trying to change the law to turn his lie into reality’: Greens Senator

Last year, Dr Chalmers announced he would abolish a power under the Reserve Bank’s governing legislation that provides a treasurer with the ability to override an RBA decision.

“We know why Dr Chalmers is doing this: because he wants to keep wringing his hands and pretend there’s nothing he can do about interest rate rises,” Mr McKim said at a press conference on Thursday.

“That is a great big fat lie.

“There’s plenty he can do about interest rate rises; he’s trying to change the law to turn his lie into reality.”
