Two Chinese nationals were arrested in Taguig City for the alleged possession of high-caliber firearms and attempted bribery.

In John Consulta’s 24 Oras report on Tuesday, a team of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) raided the suspect’s residence inside an exclusive subdivision after authorities received information he was concealing illegal firearms.

Recovered from the townhouse were several high-powered firearms, ammunition, helmets bearing the word “China”, a tactical vest, and a Chinese flag.

Also seized were luxury vehicles that include a McLaren sports car worth around P15 to P30 million.

“Firearms na high-powered, complete with protective gears, bullet (proof) vest, ballistic helmet,  pandigma ito eh mga armas. Is he a gun lover? Ano yung personality niya?” Police Major General Jose Melencio Nartatez, NCRPO chief, said.

“Nakakuha tayo ng luxury cars, merong electric car at McLaren, worth P15 to P30 million. Napakamahal, saan sila kukuha nun? We are questioning this kasi walang documents napakita. We will be coordinating Customs and concerned agencies,” Nartatez added.

Speaking through an interpreter, the suspect said did not know who owns the confiscated items.

Meanwhile, another Chinese national was apprehended for allegedly attempting to bribe members of the NCRPO team.

“They bribed the police officers so the profiling will continue. That’s why additional case laban sa kanila ang ipapatong,” Nartatez added.

The NCRPO said it will conduct a follow-up operation to identify the other suspects.—Sundy Locus/RF, GMA Integrated News
