Chicago Sky Lose Rookie Kamilla Cardoso to Significant Injury Absence
The Chicago Sky received a brutal blow before their second preseason game.
Kamilla Cardoso will be miss one to two months of action due to a shoulder injury she sustained during the Sky’s preseason game against the Minnesota Lynx last Friday.
Cardoso fell to the floor after taking contact during Friday’s game. She remained on the floor for about a minute before standing up and shaking out her right shoulder.
Cardoso — who was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft — was approached by teammate Angel Reese as she walked off the court, who seemed to be asking whether she was all right.
While Cardoso tried to downplay the injury in the moment, we now know that the injury was a serious problem.
The Sky announced on Monday evening that Cardoso is out, and will be reevaluated in four to six weeks. As a result, Cardoso could end up missing her first 13 WNBA regular season games.

Another Sky rookie Breanna Maxwell has a knee injury, and will be missing at least a month of action.
Now, the Sky’s only rookie that isn’t injured at the moment is Angel Reese.
