The Yamunotri Temple will shut its door on 31st of October. This closing date is decided by the Char Dham Temple Committee.

Morning and Evening Aarti timings: 6:30 to 07:30 AM and 06:30 to 07:30 PM, respectively

General Darshan: The temple will open its doors for general viewing from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2 PM to 8 PM. No darshan will be allowed between 12 PM and 2 PM daily.

Best time to visit Yamunotri Temple

One must plan their trip shortly after the temple’s opening or just before its closure. During these periods, typically the weather remains favorable and perfect for trekking. It’s advisable to avoid the monsoon season, (late June to August), due to heavy rains and the risk of landslides.

Start your religious sojourn either from Dehradun or Haridwar. Head towards Janki Chatti, the nearest town to Yamunotri, from where the 6 km trek to the temple starts. It takes between 3 and 6 hours to reach the temple based on individual pace.

How to reach?

By Air: Arrive at the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, situated around 210 km from Yamunotri. From here, taxis and buses ply to Hanuman Chatti, serving as a convenient gateway to the temple.

By Rail: Dehradun Railway Station is the nearest major railhead, with connectivity to prominent Indian cities. Upon arrival, proceed to Hanuman Chatti via road transport.

By Road: Embark on a scenic drive from Dehradun towards Hanuman Chatti, traversing through picturesque locales such as Mussoorie and Barkot. Hanuman Chatti serves as the starting point for the trek to Yamunotri.
