Chance of LPA outside PAR becoming a typhoon is low, says Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The chance that a low-pressure area (LPA) near the southern part of Mindanao outside the Philippine area of responsibility will develop into a tropical cyclone is still low, the state weather bureau said on Wednesday.

However, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the LPA’s trough is still expected to bring rains in some areas in Mindanao.

“Ang trough o extension ng low pressure area nakakaapekto partikular dito sa may bahagi ng Davao region at dito sa may bahagi ng Soccsksargen,” Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said.

(The trough or extension of a low pressure area will affect parts of the Davao Region and here in Soccsksargen.)

On the other hand, the ridge of a high-pressure area will bring warm weather in parts of Luzon, but some isolated rains and thunderstorms may still occur, Badrina added.
