4 hurt in 2 motorcycle smashups
MANILA, Philippines — Four riders were injured when their motorcycles collided in two separate accidents along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City yesterday.
At around 9:08 a.m., Angelo Poblete, 38, rear-ended Aldin Vergara’s motorcycle while the latter was maneuvering at a U-turn slot along the avenue in Barangay UP Campus. Both men rode Honda Click motorcycles.
Police said both riders suffered injuries, with Poblete taken to the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) by a rescue ambulance.
Vergara alleged that Poblete was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.
At around 9:30 a.m., the front wheel of 27-year-old security guard Melvin Lasconia’s Honda ADV was hit by the rear portion of a Honda XRM driven by Rudy Basquinas, 53, along the southbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay Central.
Rescue personnel transported Lasconia to the EAMC for treatment.
The extent of damage to the motorcycles is yet to be determined, police said.
