2024 Porsche Panamera Adds V-6 E-Hybrids with up to 536 HP

  • Porsche has revealed two more models in the 2024 Panamera lineup, the 4 E-Hybrid and 4S E-Hybrid.
  • The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid produces 463 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, while the S model ups that to 536 hp and 55 pound-feet.
  • Prices for the 4 E-Hybrid start at $117,495, while the 4S E-Hybrid begins at $128,795.

Porsche unveiled the latest evolution of the Panamera last fall, sporting crisper styling, an updated cabin, and a horsepower boost. Initially Porsche only showed the base V-6 model and the range-topping V-8–powered Turbo E-Hybrid, but now hybrid powertrains are spreading across the lineup. The V-6–powered Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and 4S E-Hybrid will reach dealerships this fall and will slot in below the Turbo-badged model.

Upgraded Powertrains

A revised turbocharged 2.9-liter V-6 is at the heart of the new E-Hybrid models. While the V-6 produces 348 horsepower in the non-hybrid base Panamera, the 4 E-Hybrid’s six-cylinder only contributes 300 horses. But adding in the oomph from the hybrid system’s electric motor sees output rise to a total of 463 ponies and 479 pound-feet of torque. This is an increase of 8 hp over the outgoing 4 E-Hybrid, and Porsche claims the 2024 model will zip to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.

Upgrading to the 4S E-Hybrid, however, squeezes all 348 hp out of the turbo V-6. Paired with the electric motor—which produces up to 187 hp—sees the 4S E-Hybrid churn out a brawny 536 hp total, which is actually down by 16 over the old 4S E-Hybrid. Torque remains at 553 pound-feet, so the 4S E-Hybrid still makes the 60-mph dash in a claimed 3.5 seconds. The 180 mph top speed is 6 mph higher than that of the non-S model.

Supplying the juice to the electric motor is the same new battery found in the Turbo models, which has a 21.8-kWh capacity. Porsche says the 11-kW onboard AC charger can replenish the battery in two and a half hours. The e-motor, which can also put out up to 331 pound-feet of torque, is situated in the housing of the PDK transmission where it is integrated into the same oil circulation, helping save weight.

The E-Hybrid can run in full electric mode until the battery reaches a certain level of charge, and we estimate it will earn an EPA-rated electric range of around 30 miles. The Panamera then switches into Hybrid Auto mode, which blend the gas engine and electric motor as needed based on driving behavior and navigation. An E-Hold mode preserves the battery level while the E-Charge setting uses the engine—while above 34 mph—to recharge the battery up to 80 percent. Of course, since this is a Porsche, there are also Sport and Sport Plus modes.

Other Key Details

All new Panameras come with standard two-chamber air suspension with adaptive dampers. The E-Hybrid can also be fitted with Active Ride, which controls a hydraulic pump at each damper using the 400-volt electrical architecture in order to minimize body movements from bumps and maintain a level ride during quick driving. It also allows the car to raise and lower, which eases with ingress and egress.

Visual differences between the models are subtle. The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid wears standard 19-inch wheels with black brake calipers, which the 4S E-Hybrid gets 20-inch wheels, red calipers, and silver tailpipes. On the 4S, the brake calipers—which are 10-piston units—can also be had in acid green and black, and Porsche carbon ceramic composite brake rotors can also be fitted if you opt for the 21-inch wheels.

The new E-Hybrid models do not come cheap. While a base V-6 non-hybrid Panamera costs $101,550, the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid starts at $117,495. That’s around $7K more than the 2023 E-Hybrid, while opting for the 4S E-Hybrid takes the base price to $128,795. Orders will open at the end of March in anticipation of deliveries beginning this fall.
