Apples are a perfect fruit to include in your diet if you are suffering from diabetes. This derives from the fact that apples are high in antioxidants and may lower the risk of diabetes and at the same time may reduce the insulin resistance. Also, even if apples contain sugar the high-fiber content in apples slows down the rapidly raise of blood sugar levels.

Apples are relatively low on the glycemic index scale, and will not generally spike blood sugar levels when consumed in moderation, along with healthy proteins and fats. Certain types of apples have less sugar, such as the Granny Smith, and can be enjoyed by diabetics who wish to reduce their sugar intake even more when consuming apples.
