spfl blast back at premiership 6 for 'factual inaccuracies' as letter gets short shrift from governing body

Six Premiership clubs have expressed serious concerns over the governance of the SPFL

The SPFL have blasted back at the half a dozen Scottish Premiership clubs who voiced their concerns over the “independence and transparency” of their review into its governance.

Rangers released a scathing statement on behalf of the Ibrox club, Aberdeen, Livingston, Motherwell, St Johnstone and St Mirren who expressed “serious concerns” over the report and want “full clarity on numerous issues” to clarify if “further action is necessary”.

Auditors Henderson Loggie were commissioned to do a detailed analysis of the game’s governance. The review took three months and the SPFL claimed it came back to say those on the sixth floor’s commercial expertise and knowledge is “strong” with “a diverse range of skills”. And now they have hit back in a statement which read: “We can confirm that yesterday we received a letter on behalf of six Premiership clubs. The letter contained a number of factual inaccuracies, which we have now addressed with those clubs.

“We look forward to discussing the recommendations of the independent governance review with all Premiership Clubs at a meeting soon, once the process has been completed.”
