Burst of warm Easter weather for multiple Aussie states

burst of warm easter weather for multiple aussie states

National weather forecast for Thursday March 28

Parts of Australia are facing thunderstorms and potential flooding during the Easter long weekend, as the remnants of Tropical Cyclone Megan drift south and east from the Northern Territory.

Senior Meteorologist at the Bureau of Meteorology, Dean Narramore however said many capitals along the south and east coast should be spared heavy falls and forecasts a “near perfect weekend”.

Here’s what the weather will be like around the country from Good Friday through to Easter Monday.

And stay up to date with evolving forecasts and warnings on the Bureau of Meteorology website.

New South Wales

Sydney is set to dry up for Good Friday today, with an top of 25 degrees.

The rest of the weekend is set to remain warm, with top temperatures hanging around the 27 degree range tomorrow and Sunday, before peaking at 28 degrees on Monday.

Following the long weekend, rain is expected to continue in the state’s south next week.

Victoria

The Bureau of Meteorology has backed away from its predictions of temperatures over 30 degrees for Melbourne this weekend.

Updated forecasts include tops of 25 degrees today and 24 degrees tomorrow.

However it will heat up on Sunday, peaking at 27 degrees before a drifting rain band enters western Victoria on Monday, with falls of 20mm-30mm expected, Weatherzone said.

This is set to increase later in the week with a forecast new cut off low in the Tasman Sea bringing falls of 40mm-60mm.

Queensland

Get out the brollies, Brisbane – Easter’s going to be wet.

Heavy rain is forecast for the Queensland capital throughout the whole weekend, while top temperatures over the long weekend will hover around 27-28 degrees.

But it’s the state’s south-east that will draw the short straw this Easter long weekend.

Downpours of more than 70mm are forecast for parts of the region, thanks to a 7000km cloud band stretching over the Northern Territory to the east of New Zealand.

The wet conditions could cause traffic gridlock as holidaymakers set off for Easter, but Queenslanders will cop the worst of the deluge today and tomorrow morning.

South Australia

Good Friday in Adelaide will be a sunny day with a top temperature of 30 degrees.

Adelaide is also forecast to crack 31 degrees tomorrow, while a top of 28 degrees is predicted for Sunday.

Tasmania

Hobart is looking at a slightly blustery weekend, with consistent south-easterlies of 15km/hr to 20km/hr from Good Friday onward.

Easter Sunday will be marked by heavy clouds and a slight chance of a shower, with a brisk top of 21 degrees.

Western Australia

Perth’s long weekend is looking consistent, though again the Bureau has adjusted its earlier forecast.

A top temperature of 27 degrees can be expected today, with 28 degrees expect both tomorrow and Sunday.

The skies will be mostly sunny.

Australian Capital Territory

Light winds and a cloudy sky will mark Canberra’s Easter festivities.

A top of 27 degrees is forecast today, while tomorrow and Sunday can expect a sunny top of 29 degrees.

Northern Territory

Darwin could face a possible storm on Good Friday, though rain totals are expected to be low.

But falls of up to 20mm are expected on Sunday and Monday.

And, as usual for the Top End, it won’t bring down the heat, with the mercury set to stay north of 30 degrees all weekend.
