Maguindanao del Norte cop nabbed for gunrunning
COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A policeman and his alleged cohort were arrested in this city on Friday for the illegal sale of guns.
Agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CIDG–BARMM) withheld the identity of the personnel of the Kabuntalan police in Maguindanao del Norte and his accomplice, said to be a member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, pending the arrest of their other cohorts.
Lt. Col. Ariel Huesca of the CIDG–BARMM said the two were apprehended after selling two M16 rifles and an M4 carbine to undercover agents in Barangay Rosary Heights 1 in this city.
Huesca said the firearms have markings of “Property of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.”
Authorities said an assault rifle, a 9mm pistol and a Toyota Innova were also recovered from the suspects.
