Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed all Shahed combat drones used by the Russian army to attack the country’s territory overnight on April 16, according to Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Mykola Oleshchuk.
Lieutenant General specified that tonight the enemy used 9 kamikaze drones for the attack, which were launched from Cape Chauda in occupied Crimea.
The combat work to repel the attack continued in the territories of six regions.
“All nine Shahed drones were destroyed by mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine within the Kherson, Mykolaiv, Khmelnytskyi, Poltava, Cherkasy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions,” Oleshchuk said.

Earlier, it was reported that Russian occupiers launched another Shahed attack on Ukraine on the evening of April 15. Enemy kamikaze drones were initially detected in the south of the country, but later the air alert expanded to other regions.
Additionally, there were reports of anti-aircraft defense operations against enemy Shaheds overnight.
Moreover, around three o’clock in the morning, explosions were reported in the Khmelnytskyi region, where the enemy directed a group of kamikaze drones. It was also reported that the explosions could be related to the work of air defense systems in the region.
