Brutal Royal family snub for Prince Harry as expert says UK return would be 'really difficult' for Meghan

Meghan Markle would have “terrible memories of the past” if she returned to the UK, a royal expert has said.

The Duchess of Sussex will not join her husband, Prince Harry, on his visit to London to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, which he founded in 2014 to help support wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans. Harry is said to have invited all of his family members to the celebration ceremony in London in an attempt to make amends with them, but none of the senior royals are expected to attend the event.

Meghan will not be at the event either, but days later she will travel to Nigeria with her husband, where they will be offered security by the government. According to Charlotte Griffiths, the Mail on Sunday’s Royal Editor, the Duchess will not return to the UK as she “knows she would get a bad reception”.

The expert said it is “sad” that Meghan will not be by her husband’s side, noting Harry will be “so lonely” as he usually attends Invictus events with his wife. Ms Griffiths told GB News: “It’s a really important part of Harry’s soul, and the kind of thing he’d want his wife, maybe even his kids by his side for.

“Meghan is leaving him there alone, and I just think he’s going to cast a really lonely portrait of a man without his friends around him, without his family and without senior members of the Royal Family. And no wife there with him as well.” During a conversation with GB News host Patrick Christys, the royal editor said travelling to the UK would be “really difficult” for Meghan and would bring up “terrible memories” of the past.

However, Ms Griffiths said the Duchess is “a strong and tough woman” so she should “be brave and walk up those steps” to be by Harry’s side. Talking about the couple’s plans for Nigeria, Ms Griffiths said: “She will be in Montecito, prepping her outfits and getting ready for the tour, but she didn’t join him for the bit that really mattered.

“If she was to come to the UK, it would be really difficult. It would bring up terrible memories of the past for her and awkward moments when she was in various churches and things. But she’s a strong and tough woman, we know that about her, and she’s always telling us how brave she is. So if I were her, I would I’d be brave and walk up those steps. It would look great for her Netflix show anyway.”

The Sussexes leave Windsor Castle after their wedding

It comes as Princess Diana’s former butler claimed Harry could be ” booed again ” when he attends the service at St Paul’s Cathedral as the British public is “unhappy with how things have turned out” since he and Meghan left the UK. The last time Harry was at St Paul’s Cathedral with Meghan was in 2022 when the Sussexes attended a service for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The couple were largely cheered but there were also some lone boos when they arrived for the service.

As he returns to the same location, Harry could be “booed again”, claimed Paul Burrell , who worked for Princess Diana for over 10 years. Mr Burrell told the New York Post : “He is returning to St Paul’s Cathedral, where he was last booed. The public is still in the same frame of mind he may well get booed again.”

He added: “They don’t have a place or a purpose here, after all, Harry is now a resident of the US, so he is almost American.” The former butler said the British public is “unhappy with how things have turned out”, adding: “I’m sure the king and queen aren’t either.

“William has drawn a line in the sand, there is no chance of Harry reconciling with his brother. There is a chance and the door is still open with his father and I’m sure there will be a meeting, but Camilla won’t be there because I don’t think there is any love lost between Camilla and Harry.”
